Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Assistant. The ideal candidate must be efficient, compassionate, and capable of handling patient concerns with common sense and professionalism. Key Responsibilities Clinical Support & Patient Care Perform direct and indirect patient care duties under Providers’ supervision. Verify and document patient history, including: Chief complaint, current medications, medical history, allergies, surgical history, family history, social history, and preventive medicine reviews. Measure and record vital signs in the Electronic Health Record (EHR). Triage patients, phone calls, and in-office concerns, escalating when necessary. Explain treatment procedures to patients and prepare both the patient and exam room for examination. Perform spirometry, six-minute walk tests (6MWT), and other diagnostic procedures as per Providers’ orders. Assist Providers with diagnostic tests, medical procedures, and examinations as directed. Hand instruments and equipment to Providers during procedures. Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, and procedures as instructed by the Providers. Ensure patient charts are updated with accurate documentation of assessments, treatments, and follow-ups. Ensure cleanliness and necessary supplies are stocked. Administrative Duties Complete accurate documentation in the EHR, including medical services rendered, test results, and supplies used. Schedule follow-up appointments, referrals, and coordinate with specialists as needed. Ensure all orders, prescriptions, and prior authorizations are completed per Providers’ instructions. Check and restock medical supplies and ensure all equipment is functional. Ensure all required paperwork and consents are properly filed in patient charts. Work closely with the remote call support team to address patient queries regarding medication refills, outbound referrals, prior authorizations, and all other clinical queries. Appointment scheduling and patient follow-ups Ensure all required tests and follow-ups are scheduled at the check-out. Check and send required outbound referrals as instructed by the Providers. Ensure proper insurance verification, referrals, and authorizations are completed before the patient’s appointment. Coordinate with the billing team to ensure proper documentation for billing accuracy and compliance with healthcare regulations. Assist the front office team as needed with patient check-in/out, referrals, prescription medication management, inbound/outbound calls, and other clerical tasks. Customer Service & Problem-Solving Handle patient concerns with common sense and a solutions-oriented approach. Use critical thinking to resolve patient issues smoothly and professionally. Provide a compassionate and empathetic patient experience at all times. Ensure a smooth check-in/check-out process to minimize wait times and improve patient flow. The PA/NP will work closely with our providers to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in both outpatient and urgent care settings. The ideal candidate should have experience in pulmonology, sleep medicine, primary care, or urgent care, possess excellent clinical judgment, and be able to work independently while collaborating with physicians and the healthcare team. This role requires strong diagnostic, treatment planning, and patient education skills to manage both acute and chronic conditions. Key Responsibilities Patient Care & Clinical Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, including history-taking, physical exams, and diagnostic assessments. Diagnose, treat, and manage pulmonary, sleep, primary care, and urgent care conditions. Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic tests such as pulmonary function tests (PFTs), sleep studies, imaging, and laboratory tests. Develop and implement personalized treatment plans, including prescribing medications, lifestyle modifications, and therapy recommendations. Perform in-office procedures such as spirometry, nasal endoscopy, nebulizer therapy, wound care, and minor urgent care treatments. Coordinate referrals to specialists, diagnostic testing centers, and home health services as needed. Documentation & Compliance Maintain accurate, detailed, and timely documentation in the EHR system. Ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance billing requirements.
